Getting started

The colored doors on Home

Under the greeting, Home has four colored doors. Each shows how many of your ideas are behind it, and a tap opens them:

  • All ideas: every idea, in Ideas.
  • Ready to go: ideas you've marked ready.
  • Taking shape: ideas that have a write-up and are on their way, but aren't ready yet.
  • Shared: ideas shared with you, and the ones you've shared. A dot means there's something new.

Below the doors, Home lists what matters next, each as a short white list:

  • Pick up where you left off: up to three ideas waiting on you, with the next step under each.
  • Recent: your latest five, with how far along each is. See all opens Ideas.
  • Shared with you: up to three ideas other people shared, with who it's from and whether you can view or edit.
  • Folders: up to four of your folders, with how many ideas are in each.

A list with nothing in it doesn't show.

When you're new, Home helps you start:

  • "What's on your mind?": type or say your first idea.
  • Not sure where to start?: Something that bugs me, A side hustle, and For my neighborhood each put the start of a sentence in the New idea box, with the cursor at the end. Finish it in your own words and send it. Surprise me picks an opening for you. Nothing is made until you send, so a tap never uses up an idea.
  • See one grow: a short preview of an example idea, from someone's messy first message to Ideario's one question and the write-up taking shape. Tap Watch the full minute to see the whole thing. Close it any time with the X, or tap Start your own at the end.
  • Your ideas, Folders, and Shared with you say what will go there, each with one thing to do: start an idea, create a folder (with Plus), or invite a friend.

Once you have an idea, the field steps aside. To start another, tap the + in the middle of the bar at the bottom, then type it or tap Say it.

The doors keep their colors whichever app color you pick in Appearance, and they're a little deeper in dark mode.

Still stuck?

Ask Ideario Help. If it can’t fix it, one tap sends it to a person, who replies by email.
